Learn how to take stunning beach photos at Big Sur inn

Bigsur07l_4 One of the things people love most about Coastal Living magazine is our pictures. Opening our pages is like taking a vacation. You're instantly drawn into beautiful soothing images of the beach.

But why's it so hard to take pictures like that yourself?

This month's issue takes you to the one of the most scenic coasts on the planet, California's Big Sur. And we tour the area with a professional photographer David Gubernick. His online slide show not only will have you California dreaming, but it also contains tips to help you make pictures (almost!) as good.

For example, "Wait until late afternoon, when light becomes warmer," he suggests. "It brings out the golden tones in the rocks and bluffs."

If these images inspire, you might consider a weekend at Big Sur's Ventana Inn. Its special Photo Safari package includes a class with David, and an archival quality print of your best picture from the class. It comes with two nights accommodations, dinner for two, and two spa treatments. Prices from $1,650.

Wow, that is awesome. Waiting for that kind of light takes quite a bit of patience, though.
