Looking for something to do this weekend? If you're near Flagler Beach, Florida, check out the 11th Annual Tommy Tant Memorial Surf Classic, held on the Flagler Pier. The event is held every year in memory of Tommy Tant, a local surfing legend, who passed away in 1998 from an aortic aneurysm.
Tommy's brother, Will Tant, is the event organizer and a professional surfer. Expect a fun, family environment, Will says.
Surfing competitions will start at 7:30 a.m. (there are still a few more slots available for those interested!). Other activities include live art presented by Flexfit, a raffle and a silent auction. Plus, the 3rd Annual Tommy Tant Food Festival and Concert will be held in downtown Flagler Beach at 5:30 p.m.
For the first time, too, Red Bull is presenting a nighttime surf competition from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
“We’ll light up the pier,” Will says. “It will be amazing.”

In addition to watching surf competitions, enjoying local food and art, and spending a relaxing weekend on the pier, Will wants attendees to simply remember his brother, and the role he played in their community.
“My brother was a normal guy,” Will says. “He loved his friends, surfing, and having a good time. We are thankful for the 24 years we spent together. We miss him every day. We hope people will realize that when we face difficult times and turn to community for help, we heal.”
Proceeds will fund the Tommy Tant Memorial Scholarship and the Flagler Food Bank. Spend a day on the pier and help a good cause!
