February 11, 2016 | By | Comments (3)

Our friends at TripAdvisor just released their 2016 Travelers’ Choice™ awards, and of course we went straight to the Romantic Hotels category, because Valentine’s Day is coming (and love wins, every day, actually), and hand-selected the coastal winners (because beach wins, every day, totally). Who’s ready to book a romantic weekend at these great coastal hotels? Answer: We are.

#1 Most Romantic Coastal Hotel: Henderson Park Inn, Destin, FL

Located along Florida’s Emerald Coast, this New England-style hotel works the Victorian/romantic vibe, paired with big ocean views, plus wine and flowers upon arrival. Read more about Henderson Park Inn, here.

#2 Most Romantic Coastal Hotel: Wentworth Mansion, Charleston, SC

Charleston is naturally romantic, and this opulent historic mansion emphasizes gracious service. We love the evening digestif selections (port and sherry for the win), and house-made chocolate at turn-down. Read more about Wentworth Mansion, here.

#3 Most Romantic Coastal Hotel: Koa Kea Hotel & Resort, Poipu, Kauai, HI

First off: Hawaii. Second: Kauai, which is the lovely little island that is about as Blue Lagoon as it gets. This luxury hotel just steps from Poipu Beach has guest rooms and suites with private lanais… you get the idea. Read more about Koa Kea Hotel & Resort, here.

#4 Most Romantic Coastal Hotel: Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur, CA

You love a little romance drama? Big Sur is calling. This storied 39-room property set right on the cliffs has views that will take your breath away, plus complimentary yoga (which will give you your breath back), guided nature walks, and star gazing. There’s a heated infinity swimming pool too. Just sayin’. Read more about Post Ranch Inn, here.

#5 Most Romantic Coastal Hotel: Marquesa Hotel, Key West, FL

Key West’s Old Town is about as colorful and romantic as it gets, and the Marquesa Hotel, right in the center of the historic district, offers four luxurious buildings centered on a garden with two swimming pools. Rendezvous? You got that right. Read more about Marquesa Hotel, here.

To pick the winners, TripAdvisor got out their slide rules and used an algorithm to sift the quantity and quality of 12 months of reviews from travelers on the site. Couples stays got more emphasis in the formula.

Here are the rest of the top-ranked coastal hotels, and I’ve got to say, there are some amazing stays, here. I’d fall in love at any one of these properties:
