Each week, we’re bringing you tips, favorite products, and Q&As with the designers in our Coastal Living Designer Network.
From the looks of it, Houston-based interior designer Lindsey Herod does things just like any good Texan would: bigger and better. From her masterful texture mixing to her fanciful pattern play, Herod has a magical touch that injects a just-right dose of whimsy into any space she designs! Here, the designer spills her favorite accounts to follow on Instagram, her top-pick coastal destinations, and the reason you should stay away from trends.
CL: How would you describe your style?
LH: It’s a lively mix of classic, traditional style with a lighthearted, youthful color palette. Never too serious, and always a bit quirky.
CL: What’s your #1 piece of design advice for homeowners?
LH: Avoid doing your entire home in one “look” or “trend”… it will date itself as soon as you’re done. Stick to the classics and take your time to do things right.
CL: Coastal destination of choice?
LH: I’m in love with Kiawah Island, South Carolina, for its long, beautiful beaches and picturesque marsh views.
CL: Favorite designers to follow on Instagram?
LH: Richard Keith Langham – one of my all-time favorite decorators. Amanda Brooks, who makes me want to drop everything and move to the countryside. Miguel Flores-Vianna for his inspiring interior photos and far-flung-travel musings.
