Want to eat the best oyster in North America? Head down to Gulf Shores, Alabama, for the 9th Annual Hangout Oyster Cook-Off & Craft Beer Weekend on November 4 and 5.
The two-day event is jam-packed with live music, craft brews, oysters prepared any way you like them, and of course, an oyster shucking contest.
The festivities kick off on Friday with a David Bowie tribute by the Wham Bam Bowie Band and a Craft Beer Festival that features more than 60 brews from regional and national breweries, including coastal Alabama brewery Fairhope Brewing Company.
For the oyster-obsessed, Saturday’s Oyster Cook-Off is paradise found. Festival-goers can sample Alabama Gulf oysters prepared by more than 40 chefs, a number of whom are James Beard Award winners.
But even more exciting than the Oyster Cook-Off?
The event’s inaugural North American Oyster Showcase. We’ll go ahead and crown it the best oyster bar ever, as it will boast oysters from more than 20 North American oyster growers – hailing everywhere from Northern California, to Dauphin Island, Alabama.
And one of those oysters will be declared the best on the continent by a panel of judges who know their bivalves.
In case you missed it the first time: the best oyster on the continent can be found in Gulf Shores, Alabama this weekend. You don’t want to miss it.
